Dear NEIA Community,
It is hard to believe that Spring Break is already upon us. The school year is moving quickly, and we are grateful for the energy and momentum across our community.
As you know, Raymond Chang, a co-founder of NEIA, has been serving as Interim Head of School since the first week of January. During this time, he has demonstrated a deep understanding of NEIA’s unique mission, culture, and DNA. His genuine care for our students is evident in his daily presence on campus and the many conversations and interactions he has with them.
Over the past several weeks, Raymond has also taken on the important work of guiding NEIA toward long-term sustainability. He has approached this responsibility with both thoughtfulness and resolve, demonstrating the urgency and leadership necessary to position the school for continued growth and success.
In recognition of his leadership and commitment to NEIA, the Board has offered Raymond the position of Head of School, and we are very pleased that he has accepted. To provide stability and continuity as NEIA enters its next stage of growth, the Board has extended a five-year appointment. We are excited to have him lead NEIA into this next chapter and look forward to many years of progress under his leadership.
Raymond plans to share more about his vision and plans for NEIA at a community town hall in early April. As part of this next phase, the school intends to make additional investments in our classrooms, teachers, and curriculum to further strengthen the academic experience and continue building on NEIA’s distinctive approach to innovation and entrepreneurship.
We also anticipate the completion of our new athletic facility in the coming months. Once completed, we plan to host a major community celebration to showcase the facility and bring our community together while also sharing NEIA’s vision and plans for the future.
For those who may be newer to the NEIA community, Raymond brings extensive experience in both education and school governance. From 2017–2019, he served as Lecturer in the Practice of Entrepreneurship at the Yale School of Management and as an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at Babson College. He has also been actively involved in educational governance, including serving as Treasurer and an elected Board Member of the Shanghai American School. Raymond holds a BA from NYU, an MBA from Yale, and an MPA from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
All the best,
Jean
