The Math Teacher provides an active learning environment to explore, discover, discuss, and debate the meaning of math. Building a sequence of experiences in a gradually enlarging spiral, the Math Teacher uses problem-solving approaches to meet students where they are and to develop their thinking and understanding. The Math Teacher inspires, instructs, and develops middle and high school students’ passions and curiosities and helps them think deeply about the world through various lenses of numbers and operations, algebra, geometry, measurement, data analysis, and probability. In the Middle School, middle school courses are designed to strategically develop students' mathematical understanding and skills. Students are actively engaged in meaningful mathematics, focusing on conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and application. In the Upper School, the two-year integrated math sequence follows a spiraling approach, applying mathematical processes to real-world problems and deepening understanding across key domains like algebra, geometry, trigonometry, functions, probability, and statistics. After completing the integrated math sequence, students may enroll in a series of electives.
New England Innovation Academy seeks a motivated and innovative teacher to develop and teach courses in entrepreneurship for grades 7-12. The teacher will be responsible for collaborating on designing a curriculum that promotes an entrepreneurial mindset and thinking, creating and implementing lesson plans, assessing student learning, and providing guidance and support to students interested in pursuing entrepreneurship as a career. The ideal candidate will have experience in both teaching and entrepreneurship, as well as a passion for inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs. The position requires maintaining a full teaching load, serving as an advisor to a small cohort of students, and actively supporting various student and residential life activities. The Entrepreneurship Teacher works collaboratively and creatively with colleagues in various curricular areas and divisions. NEIA encourages collaborative teamwork in the classroom, teaching students to communicate effectively and thoughtfully, justify their reasoning, and consider multiple perspectives when solving problems. Teachers invest in the life of the school by participating in the advising program, social and emotional learning, weekly team meetings, anti-bias training, student and residential life, and any aspects that support the student experience. Under the general supervision and guidance of the Head of Teaching & Learning, teachers prepare lesson plans, engage students with a project-based curriculum, and assess student work and performance through NEIA’s Competency-Based model. They also provide feedback, document student progress, and assign learning extensions. Teachers are responsible for creating and maintaining a positive learning environment, guiding and encouraging students to fulfill their academic potential a accomplish learning goals, commanding their classrooms, and responding to parent and guardian communications in a timely manner. Finally, teachers are expected to understand and utilize Human-Centered Design as a process and develop it as an ethos across the program.
New England Innovation Academy seeks a motivated, resourceful, and flexible part-time School Nurse to join Health Services. The position requires compassion, professionalism, an entrepreneurial spirit and start-up mentality, and excellent interpersonal and relationship skills. The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with pediatric experience. This role is a shared role with our current part-time school nurse and responsibilities and work hours may need to be adjusted to meet the medical needs of boarding students. Availability to work weekday evenings, Monday through Friday, from approximately 4 pm to 10pm and weekends. May be required to attend events and field trips with staff and students as needed. Must be available for summer camp hours as
needed.
The School Nurse provides direct care, first aid, triage, assessment and treatment of illness and injury on campus as needed. The School Nurse also provides healthcare education to students as required. The School Nurse acts as a liaison between school, home, and community to improve the overall health of students. Additionally, the School Nurse is responsible for emergency care, on-going health assessments, medical treatment and health counseling of students, and medication administration. The School Nurse helps to maintain school health records, and will help in the development of processes and protocols within the Health Services Department as requested.
