Animating Question
Our students are precious: how do we learn from them about how to teach them well in today’s world
BACKGROUND
Ihab has spent over two decades at the intersection of scientific research and education, beginning his career as a research scientist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the University of North Texas, where he published peer-reviewed work in molecular and developmental biology while mentoring undergraduate and graduate researchers. Transitioning fully into the classroom, Ihab has taught advanced biology, genetics, cellular biology, and chemistry at institutions ranging from preparatory schools to universities, most recently at Loomis Chaffee, where he also launched a science program, designed functional lab spaces, and contributed to the school’s AI panel. In parallel, he has founded and run College Prep by Design, through which he has guided over 1,300 students, including many with learning differences, toward meaningful academic growth. He hopes to bring this rare blend of research depth, classroom innovation, and genuine commitment to student success to the community.
EDUCATION

WHAT HE’D WHISPER IN THE EAR OF HIS 15-YEAR-OLD SELF
May you develop the wisdom to know the difference between the people who will love you for what you are to them and the people who will love you for who you are: stick with the latter; break bread with them; keep them close. They are your grace on earth and in heaven.
