Animating Question
Schools should be preparing the next generation for a limitless future. What happens when we allow student passions and interests to create authentic learning experiences?
Tim McCauley
Director of the Middle School; Science Teacher
BACKGROUND
Tim comes from a family of educators. His parents were both public school teachers (his mother was a kindergarten teacher, and his father an administrator), so it felt natural for him to step in front of the classroom. For the past thirteen years, he has been working at the Fay School, where he has been the science department chair, run summer programs, been active in the residential life program, and taught grades three through nine. Before Fay, Tim worked at the Tuxedo Park School in New York and was the Program Director for City Kids Wilderness Program based out of Washington D.C. and Jackson, WY. Tim’s passion for education comes from designing curriculum and guiding students through meaningful experiences that help make sense of the world around them. When he’s not teaching, Tim can be found outside, running through the woods with his two sons and wife.
EDUCATION
B.A. Outdoor Education, University of New Hampshire; M.Ed. Secondary Science Education, University of New Hampshire
WHAT HE’D SAY TO HIS 15-YEAR-OLD SELF
Every experience you have carries with it a lesson, the good and the bad. Take the time to process these moments because they will shape the person you will become.
