Which teacher do you still think about, and why?
I still think about my middle and high school film teacher. At a young age, he showed me that storytelling is a lens through which we can understand life, and that expression extends far beyond spoken or written language. Through film, he opened the door to an entirely new creative world and taught me how to communicate ideas, emotions, and experiences that I had not yet learned to express in words.
What do you say to a student who tells you they’re not creative?
Creativity is not something you either have or do not have, it is a way of noticing, questioning, and making connections.

BACKGROUND
William Chi is a creative educator and learning designer whose work centers around music, multimedia production, technology, and student-centered learning. Before joining NEIA, William taught music in Shanghai, where he guided aspiring musicians through the creative development and college application process. His professional background includes filmmaking and video production, live sound engineering, music direction, and camera and post production work for Berklee College of Music’s digital channels. These experiences shape his project-based approach to education, giving students opportunities to experiment, collaborate, and transform their ideas into meaningful performances and media.
William is passionate about helping students build creative confidence, technical ability, and personal agency through music and the performing arts.
