Animating Question
How can the humanities help us understand, participate in, and improve the many communities to which we’ll belong throughout our lives?
Caolan Madden
Humanities Teacher
Caolan has been teaching for seventeen years, in settings ranging from second grade to college. In courses in English literature, multimedia composition, creative writing, and gender studies, Caolan emphasizes collaboration within and beyond the classroom, and finds opportunities for students to bring their individual passions and expertise to their study of the humanities–whether that’s creating a podcast about their work in a hospital, translating a poem from their home language into English, or writing an essay comparing the songs of Taylor Swift to the philosophy of Jean-Jacques Rousseau. When she’s not teaching, Caolan loves drawing, decorating sugar cookies, and playing video games with her husband and two daughters.
