Alina Balseiro (they/them) is a lens-based, multi-media artist who uses photography to empower their collaborators in the LGBTQIA+ community. In their photographs and sculptures, they balance the shifting weight of representation with education to depict how the LGBTQIA+ community wants to be seen.
As an educator, they focus on inclusive, people-centered education and prioritize the importance of a learner’s creative expression. Their culturally responsive curriculum reflects contemporary discourse in a safe learning environment. Alina encourages students to explore their socio-cultural identities and reflect on them in their artistic practice.
