The CRISP-DM data science lifecycle.
What did you want to be at 15, and how close did you get?
I vacillated between wanting to become a doctor and a philosopher. I became neither, but I still greatly enjoy helping people and find many deep commonalities between philosophy and mathematics.
What do you say to a student who tells you they’re not creative?
That creativity is like a muscle, and (taking inspiration from Lao Tzu) a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

BACKGROUND
Dr. Adrianna Loback has taught at Princeton and Harvard, where she developed active learning experiences that help students build conceptual understanding, strengthen reasoning, and gain confidence. Her career also spans more than seven years in industry, including leadership roles in data science at Moderna and Alkermes Pharmaceuticals. Her work has focused on machine learning, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making, including supporting COVID-19 vaccine safety analysis at Moderna.
At NEIA, Dr. Loback brings together deep mathematical thinking, real-world data science, and a student-centered approach to learning. She will lead the Math Department and help NEIA students see mathematics not just as something to learn, but as a powerful tool for understanding and solving problems in the world.
