Experience

Position Overview:

The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (D.E.I.B.) Coordinator plays a crucial role in fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment where all members of our New England Innovation Academy (NEIA) community feel a sense of belonging and can thrive. The D.E.I.B. Coordinator leads NEIA’s efforts to create, support, and promote our I.D.E.A.S (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Action, and Social Justice) framework and programming throughout our community.

Responsibilities
● Develop and implement a comprehensive diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging plan that aligns with the school’s mission, values, and strategic objectives.

● Collaborate with school leadership, faculty, staff, students, families, and community stakeholders to create a shared understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and its importance in education.

● Conduct regular assessments and collect data to evaluate the current state of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging at the school, identify gaps, and track progress over time.

● Provide expertise, guidance, and support to faculty and staff in implementing inclusive teaching practices and developing culturally responsive curricula.

● Plan and deliver professional development sessions and workshops for faculty and staff to enhance their knowledge and skills related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

● Collaborate with the admissions team to develop strategies for recruiting and retaining a diverse student body that reflects the school’s commitment to inclusivity.

● Advise and support student-led diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, clubs, and organizations.

● Establish and maintain partnerships with external organizations, community groups, and resources to enhance the school’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts.

● Serve as a resource for students, families, and staff, offering support, guidance, and advocacy when addressing issues related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

● Stay current with research, trends, and best practices in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in education, and share relevant information with the school community.

● Collaborate with the communications team to develop effective communication strategies that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives internally and externally.

● Regularly report to school leadership on the progress and outcomes of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives.

● Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required by the position and the school.

Supervisory Responsibilities
● The Director of D.E.I.B. does not supervise any other employees at NEIA.
