Tess Cooney

Nurse

Tess grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and attended an all-girls boarding school in Virginia. Many of her summers were spent at a sleepaway camp in the Berkshires. With an oncologist father, healthcare and education were frequent topics of conversation in her household. Her mother passed down a love of roller coasters and dogs, and one of her favorite pastimes remains visiting amusement parks to ride the newest, tallest, and fastest coasters.

Her passion for nursing began after the devastating loss of her first baby to osteogenesis imperfecta type II. The following year, she delivered a healthy baby boy, and her rainbow baby, Dylan, is now ten years old. For the past two years, she has worked as a cardiac step-down travel nurse. She is deeply passionate about heart health, maternal healthcare disparities in the United States, health equity, and addressing bias and racism in healthcare.

In her spare time, she enjoys planning fabulous vacations and spending time with her son, her boyfriend, and her miniature bull terriers.

Education

Quinsigamond Community College — Associate Degree in Nursing

Fitchburg State University — Bachelor of Science in Nursing (in progress)
